What Does the Inside of Your Nose Smell Like? By Andrew Coenen

We are all in search of our own identity. The question “who am I?” is an age-old quandary, and as far as I can tell just about everyone wants to know the answer. Asking who we are puts the “quest” in question, because that’s what it is. A journey. Of course, I’m not here to tell you the answer. If an answer even exists, it certainly wouldn’t fit in a page-long blog post, and it definitely wouldn’t be revealed through the musings of some random college kid. However, I do like to......

Magic! By Andrew Coenen

The concept of magic has always intrigued me. As an avid player of Dungeons and Dragons, a big fan of fantasy films and books, and someone with a runaway imagination to a fault, I have long dreamed of mystical sorcery capable of doing the impossible. Of course, I also believe in the scientific process and have a passion for understanding the world as it is, not how I would like it to be, so I understand that magic isn’t real. Then again, magic is just a word. After all, we have devices......

On our last trip to Thailand, this series of events happened.  We stayed in a wonderful Airbnb that was a traditional Thai house with an open-air layout for the kitchen and dining room. The hosts were wonderful and went over and above to make sure our stay was better than expected. They took us to some of their favorite places to get street food, brought us to the Wat they went to as children and shared unknown (to us) bits of the place they call home. We entered as strangers and left......

The Cogs of the Universe by Andrew Coenen

Meet our new guest blogger, Andrew Coenen.   We live in a chaotic world. Not that you need me to tell you that, I’m sure. The cogs of the universe turn mindlessly, and they are often fickle, cruel even. In these times, we are all too often reminded of this, and worse yet, we are reminded of how little control we have over fate. The universe has a lot of bad in it, I think we all know that. But I’m here to tell you– to remind you, really– that the bad......

Virtual reality, divorce, and taking things one step at a time.

I may have been wrong about virtual reality. There were reasons I didn’t love the idea of virtual classes. I thought they were good reasons. Maybe they are in some ways. Lack of connection and more time in front of a computer over in-person interaction, to name just a few of the reasons I had an aversion to online classes. It was more than an aversion, though. I simply was not open-minded to even give it a chance. The community that comes from seeing people in person was something I didn’t want......

When the Muladhara Chakra workshop brings the unexpected…and you let it flow. January 3, 2020, by Michelle Aalbers I am stable. I am safe. I have what I need….and last night… I was surprised. I was vulnerable. I was relieved. Yesterday was an interesting day. Whether or not last night’s workshop was going to happen was in flux. Something kept telling me to wait, and trust, and that it would happen. It did. What I didn’t know is that the class would be so profound for me as a student. At one......
